If you were to define our Church with one word, it would have to be the word Grace.
What is Grace? God's Grace is when you get what you don't deserve. (Forgiveness, Empowerment) God's Mercy is when you don't get what you do deserve. (Punishment) God has shown his grace to us in the fact that "at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:6-8)
Jesus clearly gave us what we did not deserve: forgiveness and a second chance. Therefore, in response to the love that the Father has shown us, it is our privilege to pass that Grace along to others in everything we do. In Short, We Believe: the same Grace that has been given to us, should be given to you!
What We Believe: Specifically
At Grace Pointe Community, we are committed to learning and sharing what it means to follow God and make our services, events, and programs both engaging and challenging. Here is a deeper look at what we believe:
One God We believe in one God who expresses Himself in three personal ways: Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit. We believe God actively engages humanity through each of these personalities as portrayed in The Bible and our daily lives.
Jesus Christ We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ—that Jesus is the Son of God, his virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension to the Father, and his personal, future return to this earth. We also believe that Jesus is the Way to Heaven.
The Bible We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God that communicates God’s saving message, and that it is authoritative and reliable in all matters related to faith and Christian living.
Communion We believe in the regular practice of Holy Communion (also know as The Lord’s Supper or The Eucharist). We believe Holy Communion is a time to remember the life, death, resurrection, and expected second coming of Jesus Christ.
Baptism We believe baptism is an outward sign of the inward and invisible activity of God in the life of an individual. We believe Baptism symbolizes both God’s covenant with us and our covenant with God.
We All Need Restoration We believe that all of humanity struggles with a downward pull away from God. The Bible calls this rebellion toward God, sin. As a result, we each fall short of the glory and purposes of God and are in need of having our relationship with God restored.
Freedom in Christ We believe the love and grace of God is extended to all of humanity in the provision Christ made in his death and resurrection. By turning from our own selfish desires and trusting Jesus Christ, we experience a new life, being freed from the old patterns of self-destructive actions called sin.
Transformation We believe the new life we experience through Jesus Christ provides a doorway towards transformation. Following the moment we trust Jesus as Savior we believe there is another moment in which we completely surrender our lives to Christ in order to live under his authority and experience his transforming power.
Relationship We believe we are called to know God and be known by Him and that this is proclaimed through the Bible and revealed through the witness of God’s spirit.
Gathered Community We believe worship involves, but is not solely identified by, our weekend gatherings. During these times of corporate worship we move from the scattered community, where we worship God through our daily lives, to the gathered community, where we celebrate in one voice who God is and how God is moving in our lives.
Living In Our Local Community We believe the local church is called to actively participate in God’s redemptive mission on earth. We believe this mission is characterized by revealing the person of Jesus Christ and His redemptive work as we care for the broken, wounded, outcasts, hurting, downtrodden, and powerless.
Evidence Of Who God Is We believe God is a Holy God and moves in the lives of those who trust in Him. He daily shapes us into a community who loves Him with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength, and loves our neighbors as ourselves. This transformation produces in us the character of Christ which is evidenced by being a people of love, joy, peace patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Judgment & Salvation We believe that when Christ returns those who have trusted in Christ and those who have denied Christ will be held accountable for their choices. Unless we accept God’s gift of love and grace through Jesus Christ, our future is one of eternal separation from God. Those who have placed their trust in Christ will experience in full the abundant life God has promised.
